A Comparative Analysis of the Concept of Gender Justice in the Qur’an and Contemporary Religious Feminism Gender justice is a key concept in modern discourses of social justice and feminist theology. The Qur’an presents justice as the foundation of social order and moral balance, recognizing natural distinctions between men and women as manifestations of divine wisdom rather than inequality. In contrast, religious feminism interprets sacred texts through a critical hermeneutical lens, seeking to reconstruct theology from women’s lived experience and to challenge patriarchal interpretations. This study employs comparative Qur’anic hermeneutics and critical discourse analysis to explore the foundations and objectives of gender justice in the Qur’an and contemporary religious feminism. Findings indicate that Qur’anic justice is based on innate human dignity and functional complementarity, whereas feminist theology defines justice through structural equality and historical experience. Qur’anic justice thus implies balance of rights and duties rather than uniformity of roles.
