In the field of Qur'anic interpretation and comparative studies, like other types of interpretation, first of all, a clear and precise definition of it should be done, but in the field of comparative interpretation, as it should be, not enough research has been done in Persian language. The definition of comparative interpretation has an effective role in the formation and direction of the method of comparative interpretation and comparison between perspectives.In this article, after researching the lexical meaning of comparison, balance, and comparison, four points of view in the definition of comparative interpretation have been evaluated and criticized. By examining the sources of the dictionary, it was found that the use of the two terms comparative and benchmarks in the case of comparative and quantitative studies is a contemporary term and in the past this meaning was unknown for the two mentioned terms.Also, the term comparative in the Arabic language means a practical, executive, implementation study, which is more or less common in the Persian language as well. Also, in this article, by presenting a suggested definition of comparative interpretation, a distinction has been made between comparative interpretation and comparative studies of Qur'an studies, and the necessity of comparative studies in both fields has been emphasized.
